Later, he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which, under his leadership, became one of the largest New Thought congregations in the United States. Joseph Murphy was an Irish-born American bestselling author and one of the leaders of the New Thought and the Human Potential movement.Ī Roman Catholic, he traveled to India in his thirties and soon after formed a new church in America influenced by Hindu ideology.
